What sets coliving spaces apart from staying anywhere else is that they are focused on bringing people together. It’s certainly something that most Ruralco visitors believe in, with a large number returning to stay multiple times after their first experience here.
Colivers who come back feel like this is a one-of-a-kind coliving space for many different reasons, and here’s what brings them back in their own words.
The work-life balance that so many seek out in a coliving is something that guests are most satisfied with at Ruralco. Mark, a hydraulic modeller from the north of Ireland, describes his average day here as
“Easy mornings walking, running, and exploring, [with] the availability of various workspaces to match whatever mood you may be in that day, be it a communal desk or a hammock under a tree.”
Spanish data analyst Jose praises
“A good balance between socializing and your own space, participating when you feel like it, without feeling overwhelmed.”
Meanwhile, Danish software developer André claims that during his visits, his life
“is condensed into simple things. My days at Ruralco are not complicated; they revolve around eating good food, being with the people, and working. It is a wonderful taste of life.”
It is an environment that encourages exploring, collaboration, and some much-needed time to yourself all at once.
The rural setting contributes to this easygoing yet focused lifestyle. The natural beauty is something that is difficult to get tired of, according to those who have been here multiple times. André also praises
“the beauty of the surrounding areas, and the unexpected activities to discover around here.”
“A very comfortable house”
complements the “beautiful nature and scenery” that draws many guests to Ruralco, in the opinion of Mia, a marketing manager from Argentina. Dutch corporate sustainability advocate Ronit concurs that the “relaxing and calming environment” both inside and outside makes working or socializing an even more rewarding experience.
“The place makes me feel calm and focused. And when it is time to relax after work, you can spend it with interesting people from all over the world,”
says Bob, an IT application manager who is also from the Netherlands. He further credits Pepe with creating the unique ambiance that so many visitors love. Pepe and Estrella are the donkeys who greet everyone who arrives at Ruralco. More than simply being nice to look at, the environment in and around the coliving encourages those positive feelings that make you want to come back to somewhere.
More than anything, repeat visitors confirm that Ruralco is a great place for finding community. The rewarding but low-pressure social environment is something that many return visitors praise. Mark defines it as a “shared happy place,” and feels that despite visiting other colivings,
“nothing compares to the unparalleled sense of community and connection provided at Ruralco.”
André, too, believes that
“there is a stronger social coherence than other colivings, and it is achieved with greater ease. Eating together and the rural setting have a meaningful impact.”
“It is an amazing place to work and relax, meet interesting people, and keep making friends as an adult. You can have your own space when you need it, but you can also be social when you want,”
says Mia.
“Every time I step inside the house, I feel like I am arriving at a grandparent's house for a vacation, filled with all my favorite cousins (even if I haven't met them before). It is a very happy feeling.”
It is clear that community underpins everything that happens at Ruralco, and it couldn’t happen without all the people who choose to come here. The harmony of the coliving is achieved by the individual contribution that everybody makes just by visiting.
If there is something that unites all repeat visitors, it is that they know Ruralco is a place where they can guarantee that they will get a coliving experience to satisfy them. This comfortable place to live, work, and socialize in beautiful surroundings is perfect for both permanently restless digital nomads and those simply longing for a temporary change of scene. Ultimately, people love to return here because they know they will be welcome, and it feels like coming home.
